This is a group
of interlinked projects aiming at the characterization, monitoring and
phytoremediation of Cd, Cr, Ni and Pb in urban, natural and agricultural
ecosystems. The project has currently 7 components:
1.
Identification of bioindicator hydrophytes for Cd, Cr and Ni pollution of
fresh water environments.
2. Rhizofiltration
potential of indigenous hydrophyte species.
3. Fertilizer
enhancement of Cd, Cr and Ni uptake from 4 Lebanese soils.
4. Lead deposition
and accumulation in soils and vegetation in urban and rural location on
the Lebanese coast.
5. Biochemical and
physiological characteristics of heavy metal hyperaccumulation.
6. Physiological
treatments to enhance heavy metal hyperaccumulation of common field crops.
